Manchester Firewood Supplies ensures our wood fuel is Ready to Burn meaning that it meets the new legal requirements that came into force from the 1st of May 2021. Under the new Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) Regulations 2020 that now apply in England, wood fuel sold in volumes under 2m3 must be certified as Ready to Burn.

The regulations aim to prevent harmful pollution from domestic burning of all solid fuels by ensuring wood sold in volumes of under 2m³is certified as having an average moisture content of 20% or less.

The DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) Ready to Burn certification scheme is run by Woodsure. Woodsure is a non-profit organisation striving to raise the quality of wood fuel in the industry. For the past four years, Woodsure has been leading the way in championing the use of less polluting dry wood which is verified by its independent inspectors as having an average moisture content of 20% or less, meaning it burns with far less smoke than wetter wood.
